“Expectations”

I never liked being told what to do as a child. “Do this” or “don’t do that” or “you should do that” or “you NEED to do that”. 🙄

But as you get older, you aren’t necessarily always told what to do expressly, but you SEE what’s “expected” of you.

You internalize those messages, just as you did when you were a child.

You see that there are lanes and you’re programmed to stay in your lane based on your background, gender, education, whether you have kids etc.

I’m hear to tell you to switch lanes as much as you want, ride in two lanes at the same time, get off the highway or stay on it.

Do whatever you believe you need to do FOR YOU.

Do whatever lights you up.

And LOVE the reasons why you’re doing it.

Because societal and cultural expectations and other people aren’t living your life.

You are.

Go live it🙌🏽

P.S. 👇🏽Throwback to my 5 year old’s birthday, where my sister captured me and my two daughters. They are a huge part of my why and inspire me to show up as me and turn expectations of a career mama of 3 on their head.
