Power of Relationships
If you asked me what has been crucial to how I’ve pivoted in my career more than a few times, it’s the power of relationships nurtured and sustained over time.
Many of those relationships go as far back as college and law school.
With all of them, people share their experiences and their wisdom. They give you another perspective and often help you see something you may not have been able to see before. They don’t necessarily have to be people 20 years ahead of you; they could be peers or people just a few steps, or a few years “ahead”.
Powerhouse connector, entrepreneur, speaker (and so much more) Yai Vargasshares the impact of community and relationships in this episode of the Humble Rising podcast.
She’s all about paying it forward and connecting Latinas - not only with each other - but with opportunities to give them access and exposure to what they need to get to the next level in their careers.
It requires taking action, and putting in the time and energy into what you want and how you’re going to get there. Yai says you don’t necessarily need a work-related purpose or “why”, but you do need to be able to create options for yourself.
And yes— Yai and I have the same last name: Vargas. 🙌🏽 I’m pretty sure we’re primas (cousins) because we’re also both Dominican. Vargas in the DR = definitely related!
