If you are feeling low…
You aren’t inadequate because you can’t do the hundred things no human could ever do.
No human does it all. It can be exhausting to feel like you’re always behind and not living up to your own expectations.
A NOT to-do list is one of the most effective ways to reduce overwhelm and minimize those thoughts of “I’m not doing all the things”.
How do you do the NOT to-do list?
Look at what’s on your plate right now. Let’s start with the week ahead or days ahead.
What things listed are mission critical?
These are the most important things that only you can do (it can’t be delegated) and that must be done within a short timeframe for a specific, important reason.
Mark those items on your list.
Everything else that is not marked can be pushed out or removed entirely.
If you’re removing it, you’re saying no to it for the foreseeable future.
But there’s a catch. The one thing you can’t say no to is your own well-being.
Exercise. Sleep. Therapy. Time alone to read, write and think (non-work related). That walk with your friend. That walk around noon by yourself.
That’s all part of your well-being.
And sometimes we have to say no to non-mission critical things to say yes to ourselves.
You aren’t weak because you can’t “handle it.”
You’re empowering yourself to readjust priorities to feel less overwhelm and less fatigue, and more aliveness and joy.
And you’re reprioritizing you.
Because parenting and/or work doesn’t have to be synonymous with sacrificing your own needs.
Your needs matter. But they have to matter most to you first. 🙏🏽
